basikal masa depean

It is bike concept for 2030, winning London’s Future City Mobility Contest this year. It is a bike that stores energy when you pedal it. When you do not want to pedal anymore the stored energy will transform your bike into an electric scooter. Until you want to use the pedals again. Additional idea: the energy you have stored with your bike will entitle you for free public transport if you choose to do so later on.

bicycle comunity

Bicycle communities

Bicycle is one of the transports that had been used since the old day. A bicycle has two wheels and requires balancing by the rider date back to the early 19th century. The first means of transport making use of two wheels, and thus the archetype of the bicycle, was the German draisine dating back to 1817. The term bicycle was coined in France in the 1860s. That is a short briefing what is bicycle really are.

Now people realize the beneficial of using bicycle on transportation, and how it effects the development on our city today. The community today are trying their way to led them to a bicycle community because they know that by riding bicycle they can save the environment by reducing the releasing carbon monoxide to the air that give a green house effect. There are a variety of issues that have to be addressed to convert the community into one that embraces walking, bicycling, and transit much more than it does currently--both in terms of the local government and how it is focused on these issues, as well as on how to build the grassroots momentum and support for expanding how people think about mobility, particularly walking and bicycling.

As I wrote this article I found out an article from a blogger (Richard Layman) that he found an article about this bicycle topic. This article was found at Parade. This is some of the article:

The Federal Highway Administration has launched a pilot program with an aim to make roads safer and more enjoyable. More than $90 million has been allocated to four communities—Columbia, Minneapolis, Sheboygan County, Wis., and Marin County, Calif. Each will receive about $22.5 million to make them more bicycle- and pedestrian-friendly. With the support of Sen. Christopher S. Bond (R., Mo.), who helped launch the program,Hindman recently ordered concrete bike paths alongside Columbia’s streets, refigured major intersections for bike safety, and turned existing residential streets into “bike boulevards” with painted bike lanes and obstacles to slow down

Tajuk buku yang pertama ialah- HOW CITIES WORK,by Alex Marshall

Tajuk buku yang kedua ialah-URBAN PLANNING CONSERVATION AND PRESERVATION by Nahoum Cohen

so kemudahan pinjaman di fakulti membolehkan aku membacanya.

THREE RULES IN URBAN PLANNING

The key decision is the position of the building with respect to the sidewalk.
This decision determines whether you have a city or a suburb.

  • Build to the sidewalk (i.e., property line).
  • Make the building front “permeable” (i.e., no blank walls).
  • Prohibit parking lots in front of the building.
The explanation will be futher in next post

Berminat? Jomlah
